Privacy
What we collect, why, and who sees it. Short, because we collect only what running the tutoring needs.
Children
We never collect information from children themselves. A child’s first name and grade come only from their parent.
For an online session, a parent may also give us their child’s email. We use it only to send the Google Meet link, 15 minutes before each online session. It is never shown to a tutor and never used for anything else. To have it deleted, email hello@millburnpeertutoring.com.
Students who apply to tutor are in high school, and a parent or guardian has to confirm before anything about them is shown on this site.
What we collect
From parents: your name, phone and email; your child’s first name and grade; the subject, what they are stuck on, whether they will bring homework or class materials, and the times that suit you. Then the sessions you book, what you owe and have paid, and the messages and photos you send through the site, including homework or a worksheet you attach to a booking and a picture sent with a question. We remove camera and location data from every picture, keep it privately, and delete it 90 days after the session.
After each session, we ask you to rate it: one to five stars and a comment if you like. Only we see ratings. Tutors never do, and nothing on the site changes because of one.
From students applying to tutor: your name, graduation year, email and phone; your parent or guardian’s name and email; the subjects you would teach, your five best courses and their grades, your bio, and why you want to. We ask for a screenshot of your school grades portal to check your courses: we remove its camera and location data before storing it privately, and delete it as soon as we have looked at it, or after 30 days if we have not. Families never see it. If it is unclear, we check your courses live, on a short call.
What is public
For tutors, and only once a parent or guardian has said yes: first name, last initial, grade, subjects, courses and grades, headline, bio and hours. A tutor’s last name, email, phone and photo never are.
Nothing about a family is ever public.
Who sees it
We do. A tutor sees what teaching needs: your name, your child’s first name, the subject and the session times, and never your phone or email. Families and tutors only ever talk through this site, and we can read those messages: the tutors are high school students, and that is how we keep everyone safe. A photo sent between a family and a tutor is looked at by us before it is passed on, and is seen only inside that conversation. Homework attached to a booking is seen by us, and by the tutor once we have confirmed the booking.
We never sell what you tell us, and there are no ads.
Where it is kept
The site runs on Vercel, the records are kept in a Supabase database in Ireland, and our emails go out through Resend. Each holds the data only to run this site for us.
Cookies
Only what signing in needs: one cookie keeps a tutor signed in, one keeps a family’s page open on their phone, and one keeps us signed in to run the site.
And one more, inside the tutor portal and a family’s page, set only if you press “I’ve done it” on the card about email notifications, so it stops asking. It holds a fingerprint of your address, never the address.
On the booking pages, one more: a random value, so your booking code stays the same if you refresh. It lasts one day, isn’t used for tracking, and booking needs it.
We count visits to the public pages with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, never sees the private pages, and leaves out the end of every link. That is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to say yes or no to.
If you start a form and leave, what you’ve typed stays in that browser tab until you close it or submit. Nothing reaches us until you press submit.
Your information
To see what we hold about you, change it, or have it deleted, email hello@millburnpeertutoring.com. We keep the records of sessions and payments for as long as our accounts need them.
